The Author
Brian Harrison:
From an early age, Brian has been crafting worlds and writing stories. Throughout his scholastic career he was known for having a pen in hand and his nose in a notebook. Inspired by the likes of JRR Tolkien, George Lucas, and Frank Herbert, Brian has been telling stories since he was ten. Add in the adventures and fantastic worlds of Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy and 40K, and Palladium Books by Kevin Siembieda, and you have an alchemical concoction that has kept the creative juices running for a long time.
Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, with misty, snow capped mountains and a propensity for long rainy days forcing one to stay indoors, he had plenty of time to craft the tales that you now hold in your hand. Now living in the beautiful state of Idaho, when he isn’t out hiking through the towering peaks of the Rockies, or traveling the highways and byways of the United States, Brian can be found behind his trusty laptop continuing the sagas of Larael and Devor, or their progeny in epic adventures through the vast expanse of the Modihu Chronicles.
My Writing
Mentors
Ted Dekker
We have only spent time together through the medium of the internet, but I am honored to call New York Times bestselling author Ted Dekker and his good friend Kevin Kaiser mentors. Ted is an incredible author, but for me, his love of working with writers and helping them in their journey of writing has been an important part of this journey. If you are looking for a class to take and an encouraging mentor, I highly recommend Ted’s “the Creative Way” program. And if you are looking for some really great novels and adventures to get into, you should really check out his various works. I know they have inspired me. Check out www.thecreativeway.com to learn more and of course, www.teddekker.com
Bob Sparks
There have been those who became mentors and teachers who have helped me in honing my craft, and in some cases helped me in developing from a man-cub into what might be considered a semi-functional adult. Bob Sparks, my english teacher in High School was one such person. He took a wayward kid who didn’t have much confidence in himself and invested time and patience into him, helping him find the confidence that eventually would lead to this point and the terrifying prospect of putting myself out before the world in the written world. Bob, I cannot thank you enough for being the true definition of a teacher. I can only hope that other young men in the making can be as blessed as I have been thanks to a teacher who actually took time to do more than just try to cram facts into our heads. Thank you, sir.
Max Gorlov & Anna Schecter
Most recently, I have to say the team at First Book Coaching, specifically Max Gorlov and Anna Schecter, have been great companions to add to the journey. Thank you for coming along side and helping me tighten things up and make them better. I am forever in your debt. If you want a great team to encourage and help you in your writing, I highly recommend Max, Anna, and Ben. They are a great team and worth getting to know. Check them out at www.firstbookcoaching.com
